Introduction

Common Endocrine Tumors

1. Pituitary Adenomas

  • Prolactinoma, Acromegaly (GH-secreting), Cushing’s disease (ACTH-secreting).
  • Treatment: Transsphenoidal surgery, Dopamine agonists, GH inhibitors.

2. Thyroid Cancer

  • Types: Papillary (most common), Follicular, Medullary, Anaplastic.
  • Treatment: Surgery, Radioactive iodine, Thyroid hormone suppression.

3. Adrenal Tumors

  • Pheochromocytoma (Catecholamine-secreting tumor) → Hypertension, palpitations.

4. Pancreatic Neuroendocrine Tumors (NETs)

  • Insulinoma: Causes hypoglycemia → Treated with surgery.
  • Gastrinoma (Zollinger-Ellison syndrome): Causes ulcers & acid hypersecretion.
